Hey guys! My name is Ric, and I’m excited to partner with Ryan, Erin and their family and contribute to One Board Family.
Board games are a fairly recent part of my life. About 3 years ago I was introduced to Dominion, and that was the first time I realized that there was an entire world of games I had not yet experienced. Once I got beyond the Catans of this world, I was blown away by how many different options were out there. Today, I now own about 100 card and board games, and my wife is worried that this hobby is taking up way too much room in our house.
When it comes to board games, I am all about trying new ones. I frequently attend board game meetups and try games I’ve been hearing about, or maybe even something I’ve never seen. When I think about my collection, I try to add games that I feel I could introduce to others without being too intimidating. I love hosting board game nights, and I have established board gaming as a frequent occurrence among my family and friends.
In my capacity, I hope to introduce you to some games that you may have never heard of. I also want to let you know who each game would serve well – whether it be the casual gamer or the giant gaming nerd. I don’t really plan to spend much time talking about the rules – those you can find elsewhere. Instead, I want you to know how you will experience this game – the conversations that will take place, the laughs that will be had, and the comments everyone will provide after the game is over.
