The ultra popular Fortnite video game is getting the Monopoly treatment this Fall from Hasbro. Similar to Monopoly Gamer Edition, which we actually really enjoyed, this game will not just be a reskin of the classic Monopoly we grew up with.
Fortnite Monopoly will introduce loot drops, a shrinking play area, health points and the goal of being the last one standing. Players will be using health points in place of money as they move between iconic locations on the board like Tilted Towers and Wailing Woods. An action die will help players regain health, build protective walls, shoot other players and take away life from everyone with a “Boogie Bomb”.
We aren’t the biggest fans of Monopoly but we also don’t have distain for this game like some hobby board gamers do. Personally, I believe a property like this could definitely pull people into the hobby. While we don’t need another Monopoly reskin, it is encouraging to see Hasbro making tweaks to the game even though it’s not the jump into modern gaming that this property deserves.
