Following the incredible success of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, it seems that the fantasy film industry is getting a boost from another tabletop company. Steve Jackson Games announced today that “Munchkin: Drawn Together” will hit theaters in 2026.
Gamers are flocking to theaters this weekend to watch their favorite classes take on evil on the big screen. With actors Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez leading the cast for Dungeons & Dragons, Steve Jackson Games sees an opportunity to also bring big name actors into their gaming property.
Nicolas Cage and Melissa McCarthy have been in talks with the studio already while Eddie Murphy is rumored to be cast as a singing sword. “With more than 400 different versions of Munchkin on the market, we believe we’re only in the infancy of what we bring to the table (pun intended)” said CEO Steve Jackson.

Munchkin: Drawn Together is the first in a three picture deal with New Line Cinema as both parties create a fantasy universe that will drive gamers to theaters. “Munchkin is the perfect property to bring to the big screen for our company. We initally thought about a movie based around Zombie Dice, but we think Munchkin is a stronger property” said Steve Jackson. “Our data shows that at least 2,000 people world-wide have not heard of the Munchkin game series and we want to change that.”
Rumors are that the sequel “Munchkin: Quest for Level 10” will hit theaters only 11 months later in 2027. You can check out Munchkin: Drawn Together when it hits theaters in the Spring of 2026. We’re expecting a trailer to hit any day, so stay tuned.
